SKN Electronics Invests in New Yamaha SMT Equipment

SKN Electronics has strengthened its PCB assembly capabilities with the investment in two new Yamaha Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines: the Yamaha YCP10 Compact PCB Printing System and the Yamaha YRM20 Modular Mounter.

The new equipment enhances production efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility, enabling SKN Electronics to deliver high-quality PCB assemblies with increased capacity and faster turnaround times.

The Yamaha YCP10 provides precise solder paste printing, while the Yamaha YRM20 delivers fast, accurate component placement across a wide range of PCB assemblies.

Geoff Kelly, Managing Director at SKN Electronics, said:

“This investment reflects our commitment to continually improving our manufacturing capabilities. By introducing the latest Yamaha technology, we’re increasing our capacity and efficiency while maintaining the high standards of quality our customers expect.”

The investment forms part of SKN Electronics’ ongoing commitment to providing reliable, high-quality electronics manufacturing services and supporting the evolving needs of its customers.

CBE+ – Precision Engineering in Orbit with Astroscale

Capabilities Beyond Engineering (CBE+) delivered a challenging space-sector project for Astroscale, machining precision docking plates used in satellite docking systems.

Working to extremely tight tolerances, our team developed an 18-month machining process to reduce each plate to just one-tenth of its original thickness while maintaining structural integrity and accuracy.

Through continuous testing, process refinement and close collaboration with Astroscale, we successfully delivered 100% of the plates to specification. The project demonstrated CBE+’s ability to tackle complex, high-precision engineering challenges while supporting technologies designed to reduce space debris and enable future in-orbit servicing.

Following the project, CBE+ secured one of its largest contracts to date—marking a significant milestone in our growing presence within the space industry.

Savekers – Understanding the Four Main Types of Welding

Welding is a versatile manufacturing process, with different techniques suited to different materials, applications and quality requirements. Choosing the right method can have a significant impact on strength, precision, appearance, cost and production speed.

In this guide, Savekers Solutions explores four commonly used welding processes—TIG, MIG, Stick and Laser welding—looking at how each works, where they are typically used, and the advantages and limitations of each.

Whether you need precision TIG welding for thin materials, high-productivity MIG welding, robust Stick welding for demanding environments, or the speed and accuracy of laser welding, understanding the differences can help you choose the right approach for your project.
